John Herman is the American Kenpo Karate International association's Regional Representative for the schools and clubs in southern Nevada. He works in conjunction with Scott Hilderbrand - the Northern Nevada Regional Representative. Mr. John Herman, currently a 6th degree, started his career in the martial arts in Evanston, WY. It was May 1984 and Mr. Herman was 13 years old. He was the youngest of a group of adults know as the Evanston Crew. That group included Herb Padigimus, Mickey and Lori Holgate, Mark Keller, Mark Brown, John Stevens, Wes Holmes and Dan Selleroli. By training with Mr. Mills, Mr. Herman had the opportunity to test under Mr. Parker three times. For his Orange belt Oct. 1984, Green belt 1987, and 3rd Brown April 1988. He also saw Mr. Parker promote and kick Mr. Mills to his 3rd degree Black Oct. 27, 1984. On Nov. 28 1992, Mr. Herman became the youngest person under Mr. Mills to earn the rank of 1st degree Black at 22 years old. He also was the youngest person to teach at the International Karate Championships (IKC's) Kenpo Night seminars in 1994. Also he held the position of Director of Security of the IKC’s from 1995-99. He was also able to capture first place in Black Belt self defense at the IKC’s in 1997.
