-These graphs show how incredible the 1999 fire season was for the state of Nevada, in particular northern Nevada. Although there were more fires in 1996, the total acres burned for Nevada in '99 reached almost 2 million. Over 1 million acres burned in one week alone, and 75% of the nation's firefighting resources were in Nevada during the peak of the '99 season.
