Armored Core Strategy
Note that most of the terminology I use in this guide
should be known by the reader. Let me know if there are
words that you don't understand or know what they mean. If
there are enough requests, I will make a separate
terminology section. Also, all strategies in this guide
are all my personal strategies. They are not necessarily
the right ones but they are, in my opinion, the best
strategies. If you have anything to contribute please

Building your AC
-
The first thing you should do is just fight one or two
missions to get some cash. Then just sell off your missile
pack and rifle for a pulse rifle. Try to switch to energy
weapons as soon as possible so that you eliminate the ammo
expenses that could sometimes be more than your repair
costs. After buying energy weapons, you should be looking
to buy a better generator and the optional parts that
double the generator charge, reduce reload time for energy
weapons, and increase power of energy weapons. After you
get good energy weapons, you should be thinking of what
type of mech you want.
-
Do you want a slow, heavy mech or a light, fast mech? It
depends on your style of combat. If you're a flyer, you
should go with a light or medium weight mech so that
you'll be able to stay in the air longer. If you like
staying on the ground any mech will do. But depending on
your ground style you may need to use a slow, or fast
mech. For those people who like to run and circle
opponents, use a fast mech. Four legged mechs come to
mind. For those, on the other hand, that like staying in
one place and sniping, heavier mechs are suggested
although you can use light mechs for sniping. Once you
know your combat style making the right mech for you isn't
that hard.
-
After you decide what type of mech you want then it's time
to prioritize. Which parts of the mech are most important
to you? Of course, always keep in mind that there are
weight limits and that your favorite combo may not always
conform to those limits. Don't worry about buying parts
just to try them out because the shop buys them back from
you at the same price. Again, it's all about what you want
in a mech. I recommend a small, fast, light mech for the
easier missions and a medium, heavily armed mech for the
harder missions. A heavy mech is also great for those
missions with lots of enemies that come at you in all
directions.
- Well, that's basically it with AC building. One last
thing, there is a performance rating in the game that
tells you how good your AC is. These are the ratings:
Poor, Average, Above Average, Excellent, and Super Fine,
with Poor being the worst to Super Fine being the best.
The performance rating in the game is not always accurate.
Some "Above Average" ACs can out perform some "Excellent"
ACs. Don't take the rating too seriously but if your AC is
rated average, it will most likely not perform as well as
an "Excellent" or "Super Fine" AC. Of course, before using
any new AC combination in an actual mission, you should
always test it out first to see if you like it or not.
Always take the performance rating and your personal
preferences into account when building an AC. This way you
can build an AC that fits your needs as well as being able
to destroy any other AC.
