Motown legends, The Temptations had their first
Grammy nomination in 25 years for 'Best R&B
Vocal Performance by Duo or Group' with the song
"Stay" The song "Stay" was written and produced
by Narada Michael Walden, who also co-produced
The Temptations lastest CD, "Phoenix Rising"
(Narada Michael Walden
was one of the drummers extraordinaire
who helped Tommy Bolin on " Teaser".
He was also Tommy's drummer in the
first version of The Tommy Bolin Band.)
In addition to "Stay", about half the new LP was
written and produced by Narada Michael Walden,
as well. This information may help keep the "younger"
Tommy fans well versed in other music, as Tommy was.
The music world does not end with "Private Eyes" and CTTB!
LOL...
Kudos to Narada Michael and The Temps!

MAXIMUM GUITAR ARTICLE
This was submitted by Jim Sheridan on the
Bolin Board the week of September 7:
For what it's worth (OK it's worth 4.95 plus tax)
the new October 1998 issue of MAXIMUM GUITAR
explores the roots of heavy metal and has a
small article on Deep Purple - it does not
mention Tommy, only Ritchie, but the accompanying
photo is of DP Mark IV, one of the promo shots of
the five guys, two sitting, three standing
(including Tommy w/beverage in hand) against a
very blue background. So at least BY DEFAULT they
get Tommy in - but let's see action, you who call
yourself "Maximum Guitar"!!

TOMMY "DOES CARTOONS"
On MTV, airing at least during the
week of July 5, 1998,
It can be said that "MTV finally plays some Bolin"!!!
(confirmed again February, 1999) it was noticed
that the cartoon DARIA about a
cynical teenage
girl, featured clips from Billy Cobham's
"Stratus" between scenes!
They typically
feature
jazzy bass-laden riffs when the cartoon
changes
scenes, and several of the other riffs sound kind
of like "Stratus".
But this one definitely WAS "Stratus". If anyone
has
more information on this, please e-mail the web-master.
