golf courses in N.Y.C., links & tips

Within the 5 boroughs of NYC there are over 10 public golf courses. They are located in all the boros (counties) except for Manhattan. Queens is the leader with 4- 18 hole courses and 2- 18 hole pitch and putt (par 3) courses. These are the ones I play and will feature. I will add others later in the season as I play them.

Most of the courses listed can be reached by public transportation, if you don't mind lugging your bag around town and oh yes the strange looks you'll get from people. Don't let that bother you, most New Yorkers don't know that we have these courses available to the public or for that matter that they even exist.

First a little about myself- I live in Queens not far from the Forest Park Golf Course. I've been playing for about 4 years. You can consider me an average golfer from what I see at the links. Usually I golf with friends and coworkers when schedule permits.
