Prologue

The last time he had seen her she had smiled at him. A small, sad smile that tore at his heart and one he would never forget for the rest of his life. Her hair had been a wild thing that flew about her head, and her skirt was ripped in several places. But she was still beautiful to him. She would forever be beautiful to him. No one had ever affected him like she had, no one had ever taken him completely and fully like she had, and he never let anyone even try. He had belonged to her as she to him, but now he belonged to no one.

And it showed.

He traveled from one end of the universe to the other, searching for something, for someone, that would never be found again. He knew that. He knew it as he knew his own face. But he still searched. He didn't know what else to do if he didn't. Like all lost souls, he had no purpose in life, no more emotion in his life. If she had still been with him, he wouldn't have been this way and he knew that too. That was why bitterness filled his days and his mind. All he knew was "what if".

For now, the once valiant, once courageous commander of the Voltron Force was nothing but a piece of space debris and he knew that, too.

But he didn't care.
