Omicron Beta City Chapter was charted on May 31, 1986. This illustrious chapter consists of four schools in the Rochester area. Before Omicron Beta became the city chapter of Rochester, NY, Nu Tau was the undergraduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in Rochester. However, the divine ladies of Nu Tau felt there was a need to extend the sophistication of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated to the neighboring schools in the area. Thus, Omicron Beta City Chapter was charted on that fine day in May.
Omicron Beta City Chapter, along with the over 800 chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, intiate programs that uphold the motto (by culture, and by merit) and purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Omicron Beta City Chapter is continuously presenting programs in the honor of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Monthly workshops and community service projects that benefit both the college and Rochester communities.
Community service project held biannually. Sorors and volunteers collect food, clothing, and toiletries that are donated to local shelters and charities.
This week entails events that touch both the social and the intellectual aspects of college life. It is presented in the Winter.
Omicron Beta City Chapter presents a competition, at the end of Think Pink Week, which allows men of colour to demonstrate his multi-talents and attributes. The winner is announced at a formal/ball the following evening. The reigning Mr. Pink Panther works with the membership with community service projects and programs on campus.
