Of Course There Was ~Garthstock~!!

You can see the photos from that and read the story, starting from Page 6. I wouldn't have missed this history making event, even if I had to crawl there.

And...the Philly Concerts. (photos on Page 2)

Six sold out shows at the First Union Center. $350. per ticket for 4th row center stage and worth every penny. This gal wasn't about to take chances on getting nosebleed seats. I had to witness this phenomenal entertainer up close and with the help of friends and strangers, I was able to give Garth blue Delphiniums. He handed me one back and blew me a kiss! I thought I imagined what heaven was like, but I truly had no idea. Even though our seats were far apart and we knew nothing of each other's existence, Cathy Welch would later contact me to advise me that she had witnessed the whole thing. We later met at Spring Training in 2000...hi Cathy! :) Charmaine and I were also interviewed by a British TV station before the concert of 9/8/98 and a snippet of it ended up on the video of "Garth Brooks ~ His Life from Tulsa to the Top". We went back to the FU on 9/11/98 on a whim, not expecting to get tickets for that concert but God bless Kelly who held out tickets before each concert at the box office. We ended up with nosebleeds for that concert, but it didn't matter...the hunger would be satisfied just the same. Actually, it was very cool watching the whole show from that perspective and seeing things we couldn't see the first time.

Then there was"Hark the Herald Angels Sing...."

There really is NO place like Rockefeller Center at Christmas time. But, this year we were there because Garth would be lighting the tree!!!

We arrived at RC at around 1:00Pm and it wasn't long before Jewel came out to rehearse on stage.

A while after Jewel was done rehearsing, we spot Garth and Trisha rehearsing on the other side of the skating rink! (if you look closely at the center of this photo, you can see him from far away.) We hurried around the block to where we could stand at the rear of the staging area but the stage had a black backdrop. At one point, in between songs, we began to yell "Garth" and he peered from around the backdrop and waved. Woooohoooo!!! As the day grew on, security became tighter and tighter as Hillary Clinton was there and we were constantly moved along until we were so far from the skating rink, you couldn't see anything. A group of us did see Garth come out on stage, dressed all in black and yelled his name again. At which time, he bent down in our direction and waved.

The long and short, security was sooo tight we couldn't see any of the performances and we were freezing and packed in like sardines. So, we left before the tree lighting and thanks to NY's finest, one of them helped us up over barricades into the street so we could leave. We made it home in time to watch it all on TV...but it was one fun day!!
