Valentine's Cupcake Cards!

Things you will need:

Take one of the pre-made cards from our site, or one
of our Valentines colorbook pages, OR you can
draw up one of your own pictures! If you are
using one of the colorbook pages, or creating
your own Valentine's pictures, do that
now. Once you are done, cut out the picture.
On the pre-made cards, follow the outline
as your cut out line.
Lay your cut out Valentine's picture on a piece of
construction paper. We used RED for a bright
Valentine's color for our card, but you
could use any color for this project. Once you have
laid the picture on the construction paper,
use a pencil to draw an outline on the
construction paper. Leave about 1/4 to 1/2 inch
boarder around the pre-made card.
Use the line you just drew on the construction paper
to use as a guide line and cut out the
shape. Put a little bit of white glue on the upper
half of you popcycle stick and lay it on the red
construction paper that you cut out. Press the stick
onto the paper so the glue will flatten out
and stick better to the construction paper.
Let this set for a couple of minutes. This
gives the glue time to set up a bit.
Next, put glue on the back of the pre-made card, be
careful not to add glue. Just add a few dabs of
glue to the edges and in the middle where the
stick will be placed. Turn the pre-made card
over and set it on top of the construction
paper with the stick. Press lightly
to the areas where you added the glue. If
any of the glue shows on the red construction
paper, wipe it off with a damp piece
of paper towel. Don't rub too hard when
doing this, just dab at the glue to remove it.
OPTIONAL Add some ribbon to the popcycle stick for
extra decoration. Or you could add the ribbon
during the step where you glued the two
pieces of paper together. This would make a nice gift
for Grandma or another special person. They
could use the Valentine's Card on a Stick to
put in their plants for a nice Valentine's
treat from you!
Take your cupcake and if you'd like, add a few candy
sprinkles. Push the stick into the middle of
the cupcake so that your Valentine's card
stands up nice and straight. Awh! Cute! If you plan to
take the cupcakes to school. Don't add the
Valentine's card until just before you are ready to
serve the cupcake to your classmates. It is
easier to add the Valentine's cards after you have
arrived at school. It is difficult to try and carry
the cupcakes once the Valentine's cards have
been added... especially if you ride the
school bus! giggle!

Valentine Hug Box

What you need:

What you do:
Have the child decide what Valentine's Day means for
them. Encourage them to use their imaginations
and different materials ( fabrics are
a lot of fun here too). Magazine pictures can
be use to cut and paste images that represent
love. Use the different materials to
decorate the box-inside and out. Wait until the box is
completely dry before adding the cookies.
A simple card can be made from drawing paper, again
encouraging the child to add her own touch.
Make the cookies and decorate. Place in the shoebox
after they are securely wrapped up in
plastic wrap.
