together as one - the inspiration for Latinas Poderosas Unidas.

the legacy continues...

Fall 1996,
Hazel Garcia, Edith Chaparro, Janeth Porras and Flor Zervoudis
realized that something was missing from their life.
A support system so close knit and unique
it could only be beneficial to their growth as Latinas.
They began a search for an organization compatible with their need for
academic excellence, cultural awareness and activities within the community.
That search lead them the Lambda Way to

Lambda Pi Upsilon Sorority, Inc.

Together as one,
a journey began through the jungle of darkness...
similar to how our ancestors lived...
to understand the dynamics of being Latina,
comfortable with the knowledge that you have the strength to succeed,
making positive differences within your life,
the organization and the community.

On April 26, 1997,
those same four dynamic women became a part of
Latinas Poderosas Unidas as The Epsilon.
