"Rick Royal & the Blue Shadows Original Group:"

This was a high energy rocK~a~biLLy, boP band that basically had fun putting on a rock and roll show! Here are a couple photos of the original band and members of the blue shadows when the group first started out. These photos and gig was from a private party held at the I.B.M. country club. Gerry is playing a stand~up leapard~skinned drums here and the lead guitarist was an original member that later left the band to go away to college. The band actually started out as three members including myself, the drummer and lead guitarist. Later, Joey the keyboard player came on board. Then, the lead guitarist left for college and that is when the group reformed. Sorry, I do not remember his name. Gerry changed to the lead guitar of which he is also talented at and we picked up Jeff as the drummer of the band! The band with the original members presented here, did play a few gigs together along with a couple high school reunions and it was a blast! Loved those leopard~skinned~drums Gerry!

This also a rocK~a~biLLy, BoP, show group. This group was a high energy band that put on a rock and roll show! We played everything from Elvis, Bobby Vee, Ricky Nelson, Buddy Holly, Gene Pitney, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley & the Comets, Frankie Ford, to The Straycats and Blasters! With all the hic-ups....Bop-cat-bop! Ricky is sporting a black shirt with tie in the middle! Members: (Order of pict., left to right)-(Jeff, Joe'y, Ricky and Gerry) Note: These photos were taken by the drummers girlfriend, now wife, Joeanne. (Still waiting for my Red Caboose ones LOL!:)The drummer Jeff, has his own recording studio and is where some of the songs from my demo. samples were recorded. Gerry had a great blues group called the "Twilight City Blues Band" and currently has a NEW hot band called "The Tailgator's." Jeff has a great original group called "Spook the Horse." Both of those guys have had c.d.'s with some great original tunes from those groups as well. I still have the pleasure of playing with Joe'y baby once in awhile. For awhile we got together once a year at a golf course my family owns, which had an end of the year members party we sometimes had annually. HeY sHaDoWs~When is that reunion gig guys! MMmmmmm....?

Here are a few more B&W pic's from the Blue Shadows. Some of these were scanned from a cover sheet that had little pic's on them. This was taken from the group photo shoot our drummers girlfiend did at the time for us to pick out a band photo. The one at the top of this page is the one we finally picked out. These are the rest. Some of these get too blurry when blown up too much, so I kind of fixed them up a little the best I could... Anyway, one pic. is of us cruisin' in Jeff's 'Rocket 88 Olds.' The others are of us well....just getting down.. boppin' and rockin' cat's!
