A closer view of the Deegan, south of 230th Street. The usual 1920's vintage apartment houses line the service road, with the occassional interruption of a 1960's era highrise. The white/gray highrise in the center background is probably a hospital. another typical Deegan Expressway overpass looms in the background. As far as the lights go, what comes around, goes around. Just as the aluminum Bigloop SLECO's replaced eliptical masted poles in the mid-60's, new aluminum elipticals are fast doing away with the SLECO's. The yellow barrels at the entrance to the northbound exit, in the lower left corner, are the latest high tech devices employed to stop out-of-control cars from getting sliced and diced by the retaining wall of the ramp.
