According to records and articles of James B. Ellison's children, I believe the family originally came from County Down, Ireland. Migrating at various times to the United States around the 1850's.
I found what I believe to be a ship manifest's of the Ellison family's immigration.

James B. Elliosn settled in the South Greece area of Monroe County, New York but as of this date I have not been unable to locate any land records for him other than the 1860 census. I have yet to find his wife in anything other than cemetery records.
I believe James and Mary to have been married in Ireland and the children of this union are believe to have all been born in Ireland. Here is a simple list of the children and their spouses.
