Oswego Tea is a striking member of the mint family. It is closely related to the Wild Bergamonts. The most striking feature of this flower is its ragged head of scarlet flowers. Although a favorite garden plant, it is protected from collection in New York as a vulnerable species. It grows best in rich moist soils and when found growing wild it is often seen along the margins of ponds and other perpetually moist areas.
