Oxeye Daisy
Chrysanthemum leucanthemum
Livingston County, NY
***NY- Introduced***
Oxeye Daisy is an immedieatly recognizable flower that grows in fields, hedgerows, and roadsides throughout the state. It has a long-stalk and as such is a favorite of children weaving crowns or bracelets of its blossoms. Usually there is only one flower head per stalk, but occasionally there are two. Although there are other Daisies in New York this is the most common and its large white rays and yellow disk are distinctive. Other telltale signs are its thin toothed leaves. Oxeye Daisy can be found blooming from spring to fall.
