Biography:

Garry Wayne Tallent was born on October 27th, 1949 in Detroit (Michigan/ USA). Garry has six brothers and sisters (four brothers: Steve, Roger, Thomas and Charles; two sisters: Elaine and Brenda). His family moved around in the eastern States of the US until they moved to Neptune City (New Jersey/ USA), where Garry grew up.

Inspired by such bassists as Motown legend James Jamerson, Booker T & the MG's Donald 'Duck' Dunn, and the Beatles' Paul McCartney, Garry took up the instrument himself.

After playing with some local Jersey bands Garry joined Bruce's band "Dr. Zoom & the Sonic Boom" in 1971 and eventually also became a member of "The E-Street Band".

After "The E-Street Band" broke up in 1989 Garry relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he opened his own recording studio, MoonDog, in addition to co-forming a record label, the D'Ville Record Group. Throughout the years, Garry's production/session resume has expanded rapidly, including work with Sonny Burgess, Julian Dawson, the Delevantes, Steve Earle, Steve Forbert, the Hoopsnakes, Greg Trooper, and his Southside Johnny, among others.

In 1995 Garry joined Bruce and the rest of the band in the studio to record a few new tracks for Bruce's "Greatest Hits"

In 1999 Garry the band and Bruce went back on the road for "The Reunion Tour" and after playing bass guitar on Bruce's "The Rising" Garry also went along on the 2002-2003 "The Rising Tour".

Garry is the calming influence of the band, always in the background and he himself has said that "Nobody notices I'm there - until I'm not."

It is not known what Garry has planned for the future although just like so many people, I hope that Bruce will come out with a new album very soon and take Garry and the rest of the band out on tour again...
