"So," Tiyanna started as she put up a new display of sensational sented candels in the window display, "Tonight's the night?"
"God, Ti," Bridget gasped as she maintained her posture behind the cedar counter, "You make it sound like it's my wedding or something. He's just coming over to hang."
"I'm just glad Bryant is long gone..." Ti replied as her voice trailed off like the wind.
"Well Girls," Tiyanna's Aunt Marigold shouted as she strolled in from the back of the shop. Her chestnut eyes shimmered like diamonds and crinkled in the corners as she peered at the white clock perched above the door, "I think it's time to open shop."
It was Bridget's 2nd day at the shop and she loved it. It is a little shop called "Marigold's Wicks & Sticks" in the Bradcliff shopping center. It is decorated with leftover christmas lights, various life sketches and a temptiong silver bowl of colored tootsie rolls awaiting dedicated customers. Besides the marvelous scents of their many stock of candels and insense, it always smelt of popurri and friendliness which are just good for the soul.
Bridget adjusted her light blue name tag as she got up from her station behind the counter and approached the door, flipped the 'open sign' with great care and opened it heavily.
"Can ya handle that door, partner?" Marigold joked with a hearty laugh as the phone suddenly blared through the tiny shop. Her short legs sprinted toward the crying phone.
A few minuetes later, two women came walking in. "Welcome, can I help you?" Ti asked as she approached the women.
"Yes, I think you can," the older woman replied with a tiring smile, "I'm looking for a gift for my granddaughter. Something that smells good."
"Well, we have a lot of that," Ti joked as she motioned the woman toward their newest stock.
Bridget glanced up from her Teen Cosmo to Mrs. Raposo admiring the gel candels in the display case. "Mrs. Raposo?" Bridget asked, peering as if she had to distinct her from other faces in her mind.
"Bridget?" she asked, "Hi...It's nice to see you again." She walked over to the counter and ave Bridget a warm handshake.
"You're kind of far away from home," Bridget informed her as she kneeled over the counter.
"Well...I've heard such great things about this place, I had to come check it out," Mrs. Raposo responded, directing her glance to Marigold and smiling with remembrance. "We're looking for some candles for Greg's sister. She's going to be 13."
"A teenager!" Ti shouted as Greg's grandmother gathered a blue candle in her small hands. "Aren't you lucky."
"Gosh, don't tell anyone this but going through the years with Greg wwere not a pleasent experience," Mrs. Raposo whispered to the two ear-perked friends. They laughed in responce.
"I really like this one, Maryann," the woman replied as she held it shakeily up to Maryann's nose.
"Careful, Momma," Mrs. R cautioned with a slight yell as she took it from her grasp. "This is the one, then."
Marigold trotted to the silver cash register and rang up the price. "$6.50 please," Marigold informed them.
Maryanne handed her the money gratefully and took the candle in it's little white baggy. "You girls have to come by sometime with Sasha. Greg would love to see you all again."
"We certaintly will," TI informed her as she tied her mane back.
"Tell Greg we said hey," Bridget told her in a desperate cry. Maryann just snickered in responce and waved goodbye.
Later That Night
"Hello?" Bridget shouted as she rushed through the door. She found the house rested; not a noise bounced off the sturdy walls. Perplexed, she walked over to the kitchen and found a note waiting for her on the fridge door. It said 'I left Jared with Erin next door. You can pick him up or leave him if you want for your date tonight ;D. I'll be home around 1. Love, Mom.'
Bridget smiled at her mother's gesture. She walked over to the cabinet and scrounged around for something to make for a quiet dinner. Her hand knocked over a box of spagetti, so she started to boil the water, taking nervous glances at the clock as time approached quickly.
"Aren't you hungry, Jared?" Bridget asked curiously as she fed him a squiggily worm of spagetti. He frowned in responce as Bridget fustratively sighed. She finished her spagetti as she put Jared in his playpen so she could dowload her latest music favs on Kazaa. After surfing around for a little and wiping the Ice Tea from her determined lips, she found an NSYNC song from the new album and with itchy fingers, clicked it.
When Frankie arrived, Bridget was sitting next to Bryant's playpen, becalmly reciting the words from "The Cat in the Hat". She heard a knock on the door, and her heart frozed for a second. But realizing Frankie was coming over, she hopped up from the floor and ambushed the door. Frankie was standing before her in baggy polo jeans and a black button-down shirt. His hand was holding a rented movie. "Hey," he greeted her with a softhearted hug.
"Hi Frankie," she replied, her smile beaming from ear to ear. Suddenly, Jared started crying a hurtful cry and Frankie glanced over with consern.
"So that's Jared?" Frankie assumed as he walked with her to the playpen. Jared looked up at Frankie with tear-stained cheeks and inquiring eyes as Bridget carefully lifted him up from the playpen.
"Yeah," Bridget informed him, "He isn't feeling too well. I think I'm going...to give him his baby drops and put the tike to bed."
"Is there anything I can help you with?" Frankie asked as she proceeded to the bathroom.
"Nope, I got it under control," Bridget shouted back as she glanced back, "You can wait for me on the couch or whatever". She redirected her attention to the quest of finding Jared's medicine. He whined and cried through her whole quest, but after a few drops in his aching body, he calmed down and soon feel asleep in the comfort of his bedroom and his favorite teddy bear.
Frankie made himself comfortable on the couch as Bridget trotted back down the hall. "What's that?" Frankie implored as he heard soft music coming from Bridget's mom's bedroom.
"Oh," Bridget replied, turning her head in the direction of the music, "It's a new NSYNC song I downloaded...called 'Selfish'...It's going to be on their CD next month. Let's go listen." Bridget offered her hand to Frankie and a shocked but pleased look appeared on his face. They proceeded to the bedroom (that sounds nasty :p) as Justin sang solemly through the speakers "I just don't understand, why are you running for a good man baby, why you wanna turn your back on love, and why have you already given up. See I know that you've been hurt before, but I swear I'll give you so much more. I swear I'll never let you down because it's you who I adore..."
Frankie tightened his hand around Bridget's frail hands. Bridget looked toward him and he looked toward her. Their eyes seemed to gaze into each other's thoughts. A spell was cast upon them and they couldn't budge. The pale moonlight casted upon their emotionless faces like in some romantic movie. Bridget gave a small shy smile as Frankie slowly went in to taste the sweetness of her lips. She didn't turn away, but embraced his gesture as their lips touched so sensually. Bridget's hand figited nervously as the kiss lingered. The longingness for this kiss bonded their lips together until a shreik cry rang through the house. Bridget ended the kiss abruptly because of her shock. Frankie looked at her bewildered of what they just did. Bridget only smiled in the way only she could, the stars twinkling uin her eyes as she took Frankie's hand softly in hers and said, "Let's go watch that movie."
