Adventure 2
Danger at Weathertop...
Strider led us out of Bree the next morning. We bought a pony, and Sam naemd him Bill. Strider, ah, Aragorn said we should make for Weathertop Hill. To avoid being seen, we went through the Midgewater Marshes, an unpleasant, buggy, mucky few days. We emerged from the marshes and saw Weathertop Hill. We arrived there a day later to see signs of a camp. Strider suspected it was Gandalf and he had passed through here recently. We made a camp ad fire in a hollow of the hill. In the dark i saw five shadows moving on the road. To make us feel better, Aragorn told us a story of Luthien Tinuviel, the Elfish princess.
Suddenly I saw the dark shapes moving up the hill. Five Black Riders were making their way towards us. We Hobbits cowered in the back while Strider got a firebrand and resisted the attack. Again, I felt the strongest desire to put the Ring on my finger and I gave into it. Oh how I wish I didn't! The shapes took form, and I saw the deathly white faces and terrible eyes under the Rider's cloaks. One wore a crown, and he sprung toward me with a knife. At the same time, I cried out to Elbereth and Gilthoneil (who is actually the same Elf-lady) and with my own dagger that Tom Bombadil gave me, stabbed at the feet of the king. I felt a strong, icy pain shoot through my shoulder, and I fell unconscious.
