The Entrance to the mines of Moria...

After we had gotten far from Caradhras, we rested. It was decided that we should pass under the mountains, through the Mines of Moria. No one in the Company wanted to go through willingly (except maybe Gimli), but we all knew we had too. We all sat and listened to the uncheerful wind howl, when Aragorn realised that is wasn't the wind howling, but a pack of Wargs. We all huddled in a pack while Legolas shot arrows out of his bow, and Aragorn and Boromir used their swords. Gandalf grew to a huge size, and set trees on fire. Finally, Legolas slayed the wolf-cheiftain and the other Wargs fled.
We reached the Walls of Moria but saw no door. We had to let Bill the Pony go because there was no way he would be able to get through some of the passages in the Mines. Sam was very sad when he heard this news, and he cried. Gandalf told Bill to make his way back to Rivendell and Sam felt better. Now we just had to wait until Gandalf remembered how to find the Entrance. Eventually, he remembered it had to do something with moonlight, and he made the clouds go away. Slowly, on the Walls, faint lines began to appear and they grew broader until the whole design could be seen. Above it in an arch were the words "The Doors of Durin, Lord of Moria. Speak, friend, and enter." The only problem was that Gandalf didn't know the password to speak. So we had to wait some more. In bordom, Boromir threw a tone into the pool of water next to the entrance. At that moment, Gandalf remembered the trick to the riddle. Speak, "Friend", and enter. All he had to do was say the Elvish word for friend.
Just as the doors opened, I felt something wrap around my leg. Sam, my ever faithful companion, started to slash at the tentacle that had slimed out of the water. The arm let go, but as it did so, twenty more arms came slurping out. The water boiled and a rancid stench poured out. Sam and I managed to get in the doorway just in time. The many arms flew up and slammed the doors behind us with such force that stones and such came crashing down behind them. There was no choice but to go through the Mines, as the Door was blocked shut.
We walked though the Mines unnoticed for three days. We saw two forks in the corridors, but Gandalf picked the right ones after lots of time to think about it. We came to a room, and in it was a long stone box. On it, engraved in Dwarf Runes was this: BALIN SON OF FUNDIN, LORD OF MORIA. Gimli cried. Gandalf discovered a book, a log of the Dwarves last days. The last words, as Gandalf read to us, were sprawled and desperate: "We cannot get out. The end comes...Drums, drums in the deep. They are coming."
Gandalf hardly spoke these words, when there came a great Boom! i> The Orcs were coming. We all held up a resistance; All with swords except for Legolas who used his bow with skill. We managed to drive them away long enough to flee.
