Adventure 2
Old Man Willow...
We made it to my new home in Crickhollow, Buckland that night. I had to tell my friends that I must leave, but they told me they already knew! Merry informed me that they already knew about the Ring, the dangers and that they were coming with me no matter what.
We set off in the morning and decided to go through the Old Forest that borders Buckland instead of taking the road. Merry led us all in and we walked for a very long time. Then, we came to the river Withywindle in the middle of the forest.
Suddenly we felt so hot and sleepy that we just sat down and fell asleep with our backs to a big willow tree. I woke up with a splash, I swear that the old tree pushed me into the river. I got out and turned to see that Merry and Pippin were caught inside the cracks of the tree! It just closed around them!
Sam and I tried lighting a fire near the old willow, but it began to squeeze Merry, who yelled and yelled until we put the fire out. I was so panicked, that I ran down the river like a child, yelling for help. You know I was surprised to hear an answer--a strange, jolly man in a blue coat and yellow boots came walking down the river, singing loudly. He called himself Tom Bombadil, and seemed to be familiar with the tricks of "Old Man Willow." Going up to the tree, he laughed and ordered it to release Merry and Pippin, to which the tree promptly obeyed. Who would have guessed?
