~I REMEMBER~
When I am lonely
at night
And the world
is fast asleep
I sit and
remember so many things
For these
are my memories to keep
I remember
the feel of my child
How I once
held him in my arms
And softly
snuggled my little guy
And smiled
at all his charms
I remember
how his hair would feel
So soft and
silky against my skin
And how he
loved to play "horsy"
And that little
dimple on his chin
I remember
him saying so often
"Mommy, I
love you"
I remember
me hugging him so tight
Saying, Kiddo,
I love you too
I remember
the questions he asked
How do butterflies
get their wings
And if angels
can sing in heaven
How can we
hear them sing
I remember
him taking me to lunch
Of course,
McDonald's it would be
And how we'd
pretend to be dating
Just my little
man and me
I remember
the size of his heart
And the lives
he touched besides mine
And how he
loved to visit his grandma
Because she
snuck candy to him all the time
I remember
how cute he looked
In his little
suit on Christmas Day
With bow tie
and hankie
He said, "I'm
grown up today!"
I remember
when I remarried
When he heard
the words "given away"
He was worried
my dad was going
To take me
away from him that day
And when I
told him what it meant
And I was
always going to be there
How happy
he was to know
Mom wasn't
going anywhere
I remember
when he started school
How it was
me who cried
And he gave
me the "high 5" sign
And wiped
a tear from my eye
I remember
picking flowers
And how gentle
he would be
And then hand
me a bouquet
Saying, "these
are for you from me"
I remember
the little plant
He gave me
just before he died
It's 26 years
old this fall
Proof that
love never dies
Yes, I remember
all these things
Not a day
goes by that I don't recall
Something
we did together
Spiders, frogs
and flowers.....I remember them all
I will always
have these memories
And they will
carry me through
I've survived
with loving thoughts
The same as
you will too
In Memory of
all our children
