~THE
ROAD~
There is a road
That some must take
With roadblocks looming
It has no gates
The road gets lonely
The walk is long
With faith and God
You can't go wrong
Life can be cruel
It can be unfair
To lose a child
Gives us a road going nowhere
We stumble, we fall
We pick ourselves up again
And keep on walking
Trying to mend
Somewhere on the road
We all do find
That our heartache lessens
With time
I've walked this road
And have for years
I was all alone
I cried many tears
But my footsteps are lighter
From those long ago first days
When I never thought I'd make it
Walking alone that way
Our road is ours
Our pace we have to set
Sometimes it's walking fast
Sometimes it's baby steps
No matter what pace
You walk your road
Time will help ease
Your painful load
For each parent on earth
Who has been left behind
Grieving the loss of their child
Losing their minds.....
Know you are not alone
Turn and look behind
For many will walk
With heavy hearts and minds
Hold out your hand
And show them the way
For they must still go
Where you did yesterday
