Up until the 1976 season, Copiague’s home uniform consisted of a plain white helmet with a gray facemask, a solid, stripeless royal blue jersey with a player number on the front and back, and white pants with a single one-inch royal blue stripe down each side.
Copiague’s football uniform design changed for the 1977 season. The helmet would remain solid white with no adornments until the 1990s, but the blue home jersey now had white Northwestern style sleeve striping and the word “COPIAGUE” in three-inch high full block letters on the front above the numbers. White away jerseys had identical graphics in reverse colors.
Solid white pants were usually worn with the home jerseys and solid blue pants with the road jerseys, however, I’ve seen photos in which some Copiague players wore pants with three stripes down each side. By the mid 1990s, a single blue stripe and a blue facemask were added to the white helmet.
Helmet: The white helmet now had two royal blue stripes down the center, and an eagle head logo similar to the one used by the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles since 1996 was added to each side of the helmet in 1999.
Home Uniform: The blue home jersey now had silver-gray trimmings in the form of silver-gray borders on the white numbers and two narrow silver-gray stripes flanking one wider white stripe around each sleeve. The white home pants now had thinner silver-gray stripes bordering one-inch wide royal blue stripes. Solid blue pants were occasionally worn with the blue home jerseys in 1999 and 2000. Rawlings supplied the late-1990s football uniforms, whereas Champion supplied earlier Copiague football uniforms.
In 2000, black trimmings replaced the silver-gray trimmings of 1998-1999.
Copiague’s football team debuted new road uniforms by 2002. The new road jerseys feature royal blue full block numbers and letters with a separated black outline and two narrow black stripes flanking a wider blue stripe around each sleeve. The white road pants feature two royal blue stripes flanking one black stripe with white spacing between stripes.
The notable change made by Copiague for 2003 was in the football helmet logo; the eagle head is replaced by an old-school white C in a blue oval.
