Sports Uniform History

Long Island has a vivid high school sports history; that history is represented in part by the uniforms worn by the teams.

On this page I plan to include word descriptions of the uniforms of Long Island high school athletic teams. For the time being, I will be doing ONLY the three highest profile high school team sports: football, and boys' and girls' basketball.

I hope you will submit photos and/or drawings to assist me in this endeavor.

For the time being, I have decided to group the high schools by county and then by township. I hope this arrangement will help make it easy to find your school. 

Also, I have included with several of the school uniform histories Pantone color estimates.  However, these are not to be taken as the official school Pantone colors.  Furthermore, any uniform drawings and illustrations included here are for informational and educational purposes and are not intended to be used for licensing or commercial purposes since school logos and uniform designs are usually copyrighted by and/or are registered trademarks of the school in question.  Licensing may not be that big an issue at the high school or junior high school level, but it most certainly is an issue at the college and professional levels.
