ANDY
Born and raised in Fly Creek, New York. Andy attended Cooperstown High School where he was known as an outstanding athlete and gymnast. Prior to his senior year the family moved to Oriskany. Andy decided to attend Whitesboro High School so that he may play "Eleven Man" Football. Andy was an outstanding lineman for legendary coach "Chiz" Frye and was a member of Whitesboro's first undefeated team. He is still a strong supporter of Whitesboro and Oriskany football and for the past several years has been the "Official" yardage marker for the Oriskany Redskins. You will always see him (with his infamous hat) running up and down the sidelines at all Oriskany home games. To this day Andy is still an active athlete. On most mornings in the winter you will most likely find him flying down the slopes at Snow Ridge.
With the outbreak of World WarII, Andy answered the call and served in the U.S. Army as an Anti-Aircraft Weapons Specialist in the Philippine Islands. This is probably where Andy acquired his fascination with cannons ( which almost cost him his life when one of his cannons blew up in his face ).
Andy is known as a man of many talents. He is an accomplished musician known for his virtuosity on the Hammond Organ, but also as a pretty darn good accordionist naturally specializing in Polka's.
Andy can also be considered an outstanding artist and designer. Every Christmas decoration displayed at "The Manor" were the product of Andy's imagination and creativity. Still today Andy maintains a busy schedule designing and creating displays for the City of Rome along with the Anchor from the U.S.S. Oriskany located in Trinkaus Park in Oriskany.
WIFE : ANNA E. O'NEILL
BORN: FEBRUARY 23, 1927
MARRIED: JUNE 28, 1947
Born and raised in Oriskany, Anna was known as an accomplished artist and singer. For years the mural she painted (seen below) had adorned the entry to the Oriskany High School.
Note: The Painting above is not the actual mural but a copy of the original painting by F.C.Yohn.
Prior to her marriage to Andy, Anna was employed at the Griffiss Air Force Base as a graphics artist. She also blessed many a night with her beautiful voice appearing with various bands performing in the area. Today Anna still performs with the St. Steven's Choir along with Andy ( yes Andy sings too).
Anna learned to become quite the "handyman". Whenever something around the house needed to be fixed she would take care of it. If Anna couldn't handle it, then it was best left up to a professional to take care of. Whether it be a broken table leg, or one of the kid's heart's; Anna could mend them all with the care and love only a mother can offer.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank both of my parents for being such wonderful role models and my best friends. THANK YOU!
