Dear President Bush ~
I know you are a good and decent man, and have the safety of our country and the world at heart, but what you are doing will not make the world a safer place. On the contrary, it will only prove to the 'terrorists in training' that their indoctrinators have been right all along. I beg you to listen to the voices of the world asking for restraint. I beg you to think about what you are unleashing on the world. Violence is the action of the small and fearful. This country's greatness does not lie in her military might, but in her heart, her compassion, her sense of integrity. You denegrate us in the eyes of the world with these actions. You misrepresent the people of this country with these actions. You send the world further down the descending spiral with these actions. I beg you to remember who you are; a great man leading the greatest country in the world. Our country's vast knowedge and wealth should be used to help eradicate poverty, hunger and ignorance in the world, not to amass this incredible military force for war at this time.
Mr. President, I fear what repercussions this unprovoked attack will bring to this country. I fear for the young man I work with who is getting anthrax shots because he could be called any day to join the other young men being taken away from their families. I fear for all the world when I think of the escalating violence this war will cause.
Please, President Bush, for the children, for the world, please stop this mad rush to war and find a peaceful solution that honors what this country stands for.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to my concerns. May God bless and guide you.
