Nothing and Everything at Once

Song 3

"Kalli, you have to play it softer." Julia turned to yell once more at the drummer. "If you play it that loud then you can't hear my voice enough."

"That's why we're all supposed to sing it." Trisha said. She looked up from picking chords just long enough to see the angry look on Julia's face. The bassist, Sarene, sat in the corner or the room, trying her best to stay quiet. She usually only made things worse.

"Trish, it's a simple fact. I am the lead singer and therefore..."

"We don't have a lead singer. We all sing. You just think that you're the lead singer because you don't play an instrument."

"I don't need to play an intrusment. You know that only people whose voices aren't good enough on their own need instruments. You, Kalli, and especially Sarene need to realize that I have the best voice and the rest of you really don't even come close to comparing. Without me, my voice, you people are nothing."

Sarene couldn't take it anymore. "Get off your high horse and come back to the real world!!! If your head gets any fuller of shit then I think it will explode!!! What the hell gave you the impression that we were your 'underlings'? Well, let me just give you a wake up call, little miss perfect singer, without US you're nothing. We write the music, we create the harmonies, we do everything!!! You don't do shit!!!"

Julia stared at Sarene, practically unphazed. "Well, honestly though, I can understand why people give me the most credit for the band. I do the most work. You have no idea how hard it is to make sure that I have the latest look, that my nails are okay, and that I can cover for your voices."

"You bitch!!! Trisha works harder than anyone!!! She works her ass off at every practice and you sit doing your nails or something. I'm not going to take this kind of shit from you anymore. Until you apologize and get an attitude adjustment then I refuse to play for a bitch like you." Sarene put her bass in its case and left. Kalli set down her drum sticks and followed.

Trisha looked at Julia, almost afraid. "We'll be fine without them." Julia said. "Hell, I'd be fine without anyone."

"We're sick of you discrediting us. I don't want to have anything to do with you musically until you get you head set straight." Trisha followed Sarene's lead, putting away her guitar and walking away.
