January 2000

Things are progressing rather well. Junior is still in his AFO for the Tibia torsion but seems to do well without it as well. He has mastered taking the AFO off in less than 20 seconds. I have to lace shoes so many times each day it has become as routine as changing a diaper. I have tried everything including the little bell shoe lace locks for his shoes and he has even learned how to take those off only delaying the inevitable for a few seconds more.

February 2000

The AFO is no more! Juniors feet are growing so fast! I'm hoping this doesn't affect the alignment of the bones in his feet but I'm glad they are finally reaching normal size for his age. I was actually able to find him a pair of tennis shoes that fit him perfect (size 5 1/2). Velcro straps too! And of course, they have his favorite buddy on them... Winnie the Pooh :)

March 2000

I love Velcro :) No more laces to tie and Jr has learned to put on his own shoes. He manages to get them on the right feet about 90 percent of the time too!

April 16, 2000

Junior continues to do well. There isn't much to say in regards to his feet at the time being. He still has some problems with the Tibia bone in his right leg. However, he doesn't trip and fall as much as he used to. He runs and plays all day just like the average two-year old :) Not to mention the temperament of two average two-year olds. I'm hoping that's only a phase though :) It is so hard to believe that two years ago my little man was born and I remember how his little feet looked .. miracles can happen. I know in my heart that my son can accomplish anything he sets his mind to. I'm so very thankful for all the wonderful friends who helped me deal with my sons condition and were there to lend a shoulder when I needed it. Without all the support I don't know how I would have remained so calm during such an emotional period of my life. I do know that I wouldn't change a bit of it for it has made my family stronger and closer than we would have been otherwise.
