Identification:
- Body: A slender, streamlined
profile.
- Tail: Deeply forked.
- Color: Back= blue-gray, to brown.
Sides= light blue, to
silvery with scattered black spots. (
spots prevalent in young, may not show
on mature fish )
- Head: wide - slightly
rounded.
- Underside: white.
- Distinguishing
characteristics: rounded anal fin
with 24 - 29 rays.
- Habitat: deep pools and runs over
sandy or rocky bottom of small to large
rivers and lakes. also stocked very
heavily in private ponds and lakes.
- Food: aquatic insects, crayfish,
small fish.
