angel

Melissa,
In the heavens you're now an angel.
Your beautiful blond hair flows
Left behind on earth we all are as this ivy grows--
Your soul reborn, your spirit in our heart
Away from us so young you part--
For 17 years ago today, you were born
And lead once again

I place this bootie by my angel's bed--
For God and the world to see
That you'll always be the heart of me--
Forever and always I love you,
Mom, On Melissa's birthday 9/15/98

Forever Friends  Melissa

Forever Friends

No one will ever understand
the pain that we go through
Every time we all meet
we'll always think of you.

No one knows the grief we share
when friends all meet
and you're not there

You always made us laugh
and sometimes made us cry
and we ask God, why did she have to die?

No one was with you
You were all alone
the day God decided
to call you his own.

A pretty smile
on a pretty face
No one else will ever take your place.

Your hair so blonde
and your eyes so blue
This is how we'll remember you.

Someday God may tell us why
He broke our hearts and let you die
There are others, yes we know
But you were our friend
and we loved you so.

My Melissa

Melissa was an angel and will continue to be so. She so touched the lives of all those she met. I picked her name when I was 13 years old, and I watched her grow into a beautiful woman. I so understood her need to be a mother, and my fondest memory will always be looking into her eyes as the baby kicked and connecting with her as no one would ever understand. For like her, being a mom was also her only dream. Her friends are wonderful, and they will be forever changed.

I believe she is God's helper now, and I'm so proud of her as she helped so many others, and others will live because of her donated organs. She was at peace before she passed, and I will miss her terribly. She was my baby, my life. She will be forever in my heart. Paul, she will be with you as you continue to succeed, graduate and go on to serve our country. God wanted her, and she lives on in all of us. I am grateful for the time with her, and thank all of you for being here with our family to grieve this terrible loss of such a giving child. She will forever be a part of me.
