Praise
What is praise?
I have learned that praise is a little more than just something we do at church when they play the piano. There are a lot of different Hebrew words that have been translated over in our english Bibles as the word praise. I hope to cover a few of them here and give you a better understanding of what praise really is. I pray that you may be enlightened and better understand the background behind some of the different ways we can praise our mighty God. This is something we will be doing for eternity.
There are 10 different Hebrew words in the Old Testament that have been translated into the word praise in our English Bibles. There are 7 Different words in the Greek that have been translated as praise in the new Testament. The following is a summary of some of the definitions:
- an open and extended hand
- a hymn
- to touch the strings of a musical instrument
- to sing
- applaud
- express thanks
I have been doing alot of research into these various words and their applications in specific passages. The point I'd like to simply make here is that I believe that simply based on the definitions above it is time to let our guard down a little and act out our worship as it was actually done in the Bible. Try it you may like it!!!!!!
