Scotty came to the WWF in 1997 as part of the new Light Heavyweight division. He got to the second round of the tournament for a champion, but had to drop out due to injuries after being attacked by Kane. He started teaming with "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher in the Spring of 1998, and started calling themselves Too Much. However, they went nowhere fast and after a year, changed their gimmick to Too Cool: Grandmaster Sexay and Scotty Too Hotty. Unfortunately, Christopher suffered a knee injury. They returned to action in November 1999, and teamed with the Holly Cousins to beat Edge & Christian and the The Hardy Boyz at Survivor Series. They started to end each match by asking people to dance with them. One night, they asked big man Rikisihi, and the three were an instant hit with the fans. They feuded with the Radicalz, who had just come in from WCW. The Grandmaster was out with another injury in the Spring of 2000, so Scotty wrestled in singles and won the Light Heavyweight Title from Dean Malenko. Unfortunately, he lost the belt back to Malenko a couple of weeks later. Granmaster returned and they won the tag team titles from Edge & Christian with help from the late Joe C. They lost the belts back to Edge & Christian at the King of the Ring, in a match that also involved T & A and the Hardys. They were targeted by censorship group Right to Censor, who didn't like their dancing and Scotty's "Worm." They lost to the RTC at SummerSlam. In the fall, Rikishi left them when he revealed that he was the one who ran over Steve Austin at the previous Survivor Series. In February, Scotty sustained a knee injury that put him out of action for a few months. In the meantime, Grandmaster Sexay was fired from the WWF. Scotty returned at the end of June, teaming with Chris Jericho as his surprise partner against William Regal and Tajiri. With so much new talent coming in, Scotty was shoved to the side for awhile, but started teaming with Albert in November. They lost to Christian and Test at Vengeance.
