"It's all Obi-Wan's fault!"

Star Wars main area - The Phantom Menace - Revenge of the Sith

I was living in France when Attack of the Clones came out, and boy was I excited! I remember the feeling so well; I had just fallen in love with my future wife Angela, and she bought me tickets to see it in the avant-premiere. I had up to then stated that I would not see it first in French - the problem was that it was not showing in VO anywhere in the South. But I was thrilled with the surprise, more thrilled than you can imagine. And even though I knew a lot of what would happen, through my spoilerlust, much of it still surprised me, not least the way Yoda came in and revealed his lightsabre. There were moments of visual comedy in that film which I adored, and whatever people think of it, I loved it. When I saw The Phantom Menace it was largely a disappointment, not quite as exciting as I had hoped. But I left AOTC on a high, and wanted to just get out the lightsabre and start chopping arms and heads off of things - for fun, of course. The energy was great, and I transferred much of it into the stage version of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe that I put on a week later. I even added a new line, courtesy of Mace Windu: "This party's over!"

Some of these links may no longer work, but hey, I put them there for Episode II and they worked then. It's a bit of internet history (whatever).

Mace Windu - with purple lightsabre, how cool - gets between Count Dooku and Jango Fett. Attack of the clones, May 16 (17 in France!!) 2002
