She was born July 20, 1882 in Leslie County, Kentucky, and died March 14, 1969 in Sizerock, Leslie, Kentucky.

Notes for JOHN M. GAY:

John and Ibbie Gays first home was in Rush Creek. The house was built around a tree stump, and the stump served as the dinner table. They then moved to Turkey Branch, in Leslie County, Kentucky, above the mouth of Leatherwood. As John would get a logging job, the family would move. At one time the family lived in Onieda Kentucky. John would use crosscut saws, in his logging. They bought a home from John and Mary Estep, in Sizerock, Leslie, Kentucky, and John took up farming. As told to me by their son Lawrence. Notes for WILLARD GAY:

Killed in a logging accident at the mouth of Ned's Fork, while skidding logs with his Father, John Gay. The year following his death a Memorial meeting in Remembrance of Willard was held at the Gay Cemetery, Leslie, Kentucky. John and Ibbie Gay cooked dinner, they would kill a sheep and feed everyone at their home. After their age caught up with them, they moved the dinner to Sizerock Baptist Church, and everyone would bring food. The meeting is still held every September.
