David Spires, 77, prominent Morgan Township farmer, died suddenly of a heart attack at 8:00 a.m. Sunday at his home.
Mr. Spires had arisen, eaten his breakfast and done his chores. He fell over and expired within a few minutes.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Vinton Baptist Church with Reverend Novel Russell, Athens, officiating. Burial will be made by Vernon McCoy in Vinton Memorial Park. The body may be seen by friends and relatives at the McCoy Funeral Home until hour of the last rites.

Born January 28, 1870 in Morgan Township, where he spent his life, to John and Melissa Harmon Spires, descendent married Mrs. Ida Dyke Russell in 1910.

A stepdaughter, Mrs. Dale McClaskey, Porter, survives along with the following brothers and sisters: Ed Spires,Vinton,Route 1; Roy Spires, Columbus; Will Spires, Jackson; Mrs. Ida McCarley, Ewington; Mrs. Nancy Brandum, Marietta; Mrs. Maggie Glassburn, Bidwell; Mrs. Nettie Sprague, Columbus.
