Paul's Daily Pic - June 2003

Here you may or may not find a daily picture. I figure, since I have a digital camera (not a very good one, but okay for web pictures) I can take a daily/weekly picture and post it (with comments) here as a sort of journal of my life.

The text should load faily quickly, as all the images are declared with placeholders, but the images themselves may take a while to show up.

June 27

I don't know why I like this picture, I just do. It started pouring rain, and I thought I'd try to take a picture of it. It looks better at full size, but you can still tell it's raining in this picture, right?

June 22

Boy, I'm getting lazy. I know I could have cropped this picture and made it look better, but I didn't. Anyway, this is the day they had employee appreciation day. They have one of these a year, and I missed last year's (because I had to work!) but this year I made it.

They really went all out on this one. That colorful thing on the left was one of those inflatable kid-trampoline things. Behind the building and tent was a dunking booth where (for a price) you could dunk the site director or your team manager. There was also a joust. Two people on high, wobbly pedestals hit each other with big foam sticks. Whoever falls off last wins.

A fun time had by all, not to mention FREE FOOD! I still had to work, so I didn't have any time to participate in any events, but since it was on the site, I got to eat and watch during my lunch.

June 18

Driving back to Kansas I got stuck in traffic, as you can see here.

June 15

The day after the wedding, we went to eat at someone's (gimme a name, people) house. This is my family, except for Sara and Jeremy (they were aleady gone on their honeymoon). From left to right they are... why am I saying this? Anyone who reads this will already know everyone in the picture!

June 12

Boy, I've got a lot of these to catch up on still. I think this was the 12th, but here we are driving to New Hampshire, and driving, and driving, and driving. It took us 28 hours to get there! Going back didn't take so long, but that's later.

June 10

I got my haircut in Indiana. There's not much difference, and I'm not very photogenic, but here is me before and after.

June 8

This is the day I drove to Indiana. Here's a bridge I went over.

June 5

It's been a while since I updated this, but I was still taking pictuers. Here is the first of almost a month's worth I'm going to catch up on.

I renewed my car insurance at this place. As you can see, this is a very typical office setup; this could be almost anywhere.

June 3

Well, I never said all the pictures would be interesting. This is me driving to work. I think the color on this cheap digital camera doesn't pick up well, giving everything a ghastly, black-and-white tone. I may be able to play around with adjusting the color in the picture to get a more accurate (and colorful) representation, but that would take more work.

I saw online a tip on taking good pictures is to mentally divide your picture into thirds, like a tic-tac-toe grid, and align important parts along the lines or the intersections. They also mentioned that putting the horizon smack down the middle isn't very interesting (unless you have a good reason). Oops. Oh well.

June 2

Not much to say today. The guy upstairs just recieved his new MP3 player, and he's totally captivated by it, as seen here. It really does seem to do everything, by his description.

I also went to the dentist today. Again, not much to say. After taking an x-ray, they said the D.D. who needs to see me can look at me Wednesday, scheduled an appointment, and booted me out with one of their refrigerator magnets and a reminder card.

I just got back from seeing the movie "Finding Nemo", and I thought it was pretty good.

June 1

I went to buy some boxes to help me pack up and move stuff over to the other apartment, and was surprised to find that, even at 9:30 at night, Wal-mart was still pretty busy, as seen here.

But then I got distracted playing games in the video game section, and an hour later when I left, it was a lot emptier.
