POETRY BERD
So she played with her children, and gathered flowers for them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and the sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried, "Nothing will ever be lovelier than this." Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said, "Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come."
And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children, "A little patience and we are there." So the children climbed, and when they reached the top they said, "Mother, we would not have done it without you." And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up at the stars and said, "This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave them courage. Today, I have given them strength."
And the next day came strange clouds which darkened the earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped and stumbled, and the mother said: "Look up. Lift your eyes to the light." And the children looked and saw above the clouds an everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the darkness. And that night the Mother said, "This is the best day of all, for I have shown my children God."
And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with courage. And when the way was rough, they lifted her, for she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill, and beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide. And mother said: "I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them."
And the children said, "You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates." And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates closed after her. And they said: "We cannot see her, but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence."
Your Mother is always with you. She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street, she's the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks she's the cool hand on your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home; And she's the map you follow with every step you take.
She's your first love and your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can separate you..Not time, not space...not even death!
Author UnknownThe young mother set her foot on the path of life. "Is this the long way?" she asked. And the guide said: "Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning." But the young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years.
The will of God will never take you,
Where the grace of God cannot keep you.
Where the arms of God cannot support you,
Where the riches of God cannot supply your needs,
Where the power of God cannot endow you.
The will of God will never take you,
Where the spirit of God cannot work through you,
Where the wisdom of God cannot teach you,
Where the army of God cannot protect you,
Where the hands of God cannot mold you.
The will of God will never take you,
Where the love of God cannot enfold you,
Where the mercies of God cannot sustain you,
Where the peace of God cannot calm your fears,
Where the authority of God cannot overrule for you.
The will of God will never take you,
Where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears,
Where the Word of God cannot feed you,
Where the miracles of God cannot be done for you,
Where the omnipresence of God cannot find you.

COVERED BY A NEW COVENANT
Luke 22:15-20
What does it mean to make a promise? If a car salesperson, for instance, said, "I promise this car has never been wrecked," what would he be doing? He would simply be throwing the word "promise" into the mix to make you believe what he is saying. "Promise" is just a word.
Fortunately, our Christian faith is not based on a simple promise, but on a covenant. In Luke 22:20, Jesus passes His cup to His friends and establishes a new covenant, based in His blood, with His people.
Why is this significant? In biblical times, a covenant was serious business. In making a covenant, two parties would go through a series of rituals to establish an intertwined life. The commitment was sealed by a blood pact, an exchange of arms and protection, and the assurance that one would always defend the other. A covenant left no room for a change of mind; rather, it was a lifelong, unbreakable vow. This is the kind of assurance that God has given to us through Christ.
Thank God today for acting on your behalf, and for reaching out to make this commitment to you.

HYMN NOTE
There was a man named Horatio Gates Spafford who was very devoted in his faith and a very wealthy man. He lived with his family in Chicago in 1871. Most of his wealth was tied up in property. He had his wife, four daughters and a four year old son. It was this year that his son became very ill and died. Sometime after this, the infamous Chicago fire happened. And this was his property...his holdings that was destroyed.
Two years later, it was decided that the family needed to get away for a while. They would sail to Europe. The day before they were to sail, business regarding the fire and his property arose. He saw his wife and daughters off on the Ville de Havre. He would join them after his business was taken care of. Somewhere off of the coast of Newfoundland, the Havre collided with another ship. His wife clung to a piece of debris in the rolling waves...her beautiful daughters were nowhere to be seen. None of them survived.
As soon as she was able, she wired him....just two words..."saved, alone". The next day he sailed to be with her. He asked the captain to take the ship to the spot where his daughters drowned. He stood at the ship's rail for hours, looking out over the ocean!
The Captain at long last came for him and told him they were 'there'! He just stood there and stared at the 'glass' like water...no waves, just serene and calm. Not a trace of the tragedy that had happened, earlier. He wrote the words to a beautiful song...It Is Well With My Soul!
It Is Well With My Soul When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well with my soul.Though Satan should buffet, tho trials should come,
Let this blessed assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His blood for my soul.My sin, oh the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in the part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I will bear it no more.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord O my soul! And Lord haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll,
The trump shall sound and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.~~~Horatio Gates Spafford...1873
