Anointing or Holy Spirit?

Fruit of the Spirit

Anointing or Holy Spirit? I have so often wondered why God would give me a prophecy or show me something and it not be the time or I wasn’t to do anything with it. Or I felt led to do something that my authorities didn’t see or agree with. But you know what, it wasn’t “God” as in the Holy Spirit, as in the person; it was the anointing. The anointing is not a person; it is inanimate. The Holy Spirit is a person. Let me show you.

See how Saul was “anointed”? Eli’s son’s were anointed. David was anointed. But, he submitted his anointing to God. He could have chosen to kill Saul, even to just defend himself – he was anointed. But he SUBMITTED to a higher authority – the Spirit. He understood God’s heart. That is why God called him: A man after my own heart. David knew he was anointed but he understood authority, and he didn’t have it (authority) yet. Anointing does not equate to the authority of God. When the Holy Spirit moves it is according the authority of God. The anointing is not a person, therefore it does not submit; it must be submitted. Watch:

“The spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet.” You don’t get to prophesy just because you have a prophecy. Having it is usually because of the anointing. You have to submit it to your own spirit which is supposed to be submitted to Holy Spirit who operates according to authority.

What am I trying to say? Well, I don’t know about you all but I have had a hard time in the past submitting my anointing to my husband. He didn’t understand prophecy; he didn’t read the Bible as much as I did. He doesn’t “know”, my pastors don’t understand. They don’t receive like I do. I have a W O R D from the LORD!

NO, I have A N O I N T I N G! And if it’s not submitted to authority then I am D I V I N I N G… Rebellion is as the SIN of witchcraft…

Your gifting can be likened to the power of the ox. The bible says that without the ox the manger is empty. But here’s the deal: if they aren’t domesticated (subjugated) they are wild oxen and unfit for the field of harvest. The farmer is greater than the ox though he is not more powerful or talented to do the work. He is however, the authority.

When the Holy Spirit gives you a word it is so different than when you are operating simply because you are anointed. The anointing began to work in David’s life right away. But he wasn’t in authority to do a lot with it yet. As he was faithful God released him into greater spheres of authority. But if you are like Saul and use you anointing in spite of or against the authority of the Holy Spirit you will be restricted to less and less. Until finally you are under a curse, just like Saul.

Anointing is indeed powerful; but the Holy Spirit is reliable and keeps us from all harm, molds us, and conforms us to the image of Jesus. Moving in accord with the Holy Spirit is an action of character and produces character: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, meekness, faithfulness, and self control. Against these there is no law!

Only the Holy Spirit produces character. Once we have been anointed we do not pursue it; yet we should continually seek after the Holy Spirit. Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. Anointing advances you; character advances the Kingdom of God.
