The Trip

"I can't believe I actually won...it's unbelievable." Tiffany said, still in shock.

"Really? Well, I knew I was going to win. Never had a doubt in my mind." Chelsea stated her nose in the air, as if she thought she was royalty.

"So how does it feel to be winners?" asked Tay as he made his way backstage to the girls with Ike and Zac close behind.

"Nothing new." Chelsea answered yawning slightly.

"It's great, isn't it great? Tiffany said turning to Eriqa.

Eriqa simply nodded and smiled, she was trying too hard not to laugh at Tiffany, who sounded way too nervous.

The 3 contest winners decided to stay backstage and chat for a while, only because Hanson had joined in the conversation. They talked about Tiffany who was an aspiring musician and dancer. And Eriqa who's interests were focused mostly on writing, soccer, and singing. On Chelsea's behalf, it was discovered that her main object or obsession as some may say, in life, was Hanson. Hanson tried to ignore the uncomfortable feeling they had around Chelsea, along with their constant urge to throw up when being in her presence. They couldn't get too aggravated with her yet, after all, this was only the first day. The entire group could only wonder what the weeks to come would bring.

The 6 teens left MTV studios and headed for the airport. There wasn't much talking during the limo ride there. No one really knew what to say. But that wasn't a problem because all 6 of them were off in their own little worlds. Ike was thinking about how much inspiration he could get out of this experience. Song ideas already began pouring into his head. Taylor couldn't take much more of Chelsea, she was a horrible, if not the worst flirt in the world, and he was getting sick of seeing her breasts flop around after going over a bump in the limo. By the end of the car ride he was unfortunately beginning to think that Tiffany and Eriqa were just some more teenyboppers, as well. Zac was thinking completely the opposite of his older brothers. They actually laughed at his jokes, and seemed to enjoy his company. They paid attention to him, and not just Taylor, which is something that a lot of fans, like Chelsea, seemed to do. He thought that Tiffany and Eriqa were some of the coolest fans he'd ever met. As for Chelsea, he hadn't quite decided yet, all he knew was that as much as he liked seeing breasts, she needed a better bra, and she needed to get away from Taylor, he looked as if he was about to puke.

Backstage the brothers had discussed their new roommates a bit, it had kind of been decided that they thought that some of them seemed kind of stuck up, but you don't really "know" someone until you've lived with them. No one in the limo actually had an idea of what to expect. They just wanted to make this the best time possible, a whatever happens, happens kind of experience. Eriqa was too worried about looking nervous...or stupid in front of Hanson to even care about what was going to happen when she got to Tulsa. She sincerely hoped that everyone would get along, although conflict was inevitable. As for Chelsea, everyone already knew that Taylor was the only thing on her mind. Her plan was to get him by the end of the trip. She was determined. Her mind was set.

In the airport, everything went shockingly fast. Luggage was checked and the plane was boarded. Tiffany sat between Zac and Tay. Eriqa sat next to Chelsea, who sat next to Ike. She was pissed the whole flight because she didn't get to sit next to Tay. All she kept thinking about was how she was going to get Tiffany back, for stealing the time with Taylor that was supposed to be hers. Eriqa could not stand the quiet, so, as hard as it was for her to do, she forced herself, she decided to start a conversation.

"So where you from?"

"New York, duh."

"Really? I'm from L.A."

"Well isn't that nice." Chelsea snapped sarcasm oozing in her voice.

"Geez who stuck a pole up your..."

"Would you like a drink?" the flight attendant interrupted, unaware of the situation.

"No thanks" Eriqa answered politely.

Chelsea just sat there looking at Tiffany in disgust. All of the Hanson's seemed to like her...in what way she was unsure, but she didn't approve of it one bit. Her and Eriqa seemed to get along so well. And all of the Hanson's liked her too. What could Eriqa and Tiffany possibly possess that she didn't? She just didn't understand. She tried to shrug it off, and thought, "Hey I know Hanson soooo well. They're practically my brothers. These other girls are just teenybopper fans and will be outta my way in no time flat." Chelsea really had no reason to worry about Tiffany trying to steal "her man", as she would say, because Tiffany was totally oblivious to any of the attention Hanson was giving her. She figured they were just being nice. That they were giving as much attention to the other winners, because that's what they really were doing. Chelsea's idea that they were giving attention to Tiffany and Eriqa was actually just a false, manifestation created out of her jealousy. Meanwhile, Eriqa and Tiffany had a nice conversation across the aisles.

"Hi." Eriqa smiled.

"Um...hey. I've never flown first class before."

"Me neither, it's kinda cool huh?"

"Actually, I've never ridden in an airplane before."

"Seriously?"

Tiffany blushed, and stared at the floor, embarrassed. "Yeah."

Eriqa smiled warmly back at her. "Well, it's cool, I mean they're totally safe and they're not really that exciting, don't worry about it."

Tiffany smiled. "Thanks, for um...yeah...I mean, well you know."

Eriqa grinned. "So Zac, how about that interview you promised?"

“Um...I never said I was giving an interview."

"Oh yeah!" Taylor interjected. "You said that we were going to give the girls an interview like ones that we'd be given."

"Okay, the first question," Zac put on a serious face and pretended to be an interviewer. "Do you have girlfriends?"

"Um...” Tiffany giggled, she was going to like this interview.

"Nope, I'm straight." Eriqa grinned, which earned her a few laughs and a disgusted look from Chelsea.

"Zac, that was a dumb question, which deserves a dumb answer which, thankfully, Eriqa gave so I didn't have to."

"Fine, okay next question. Tay, do the honors?"

"Why thank you, Zachary. Alright, what is the craziest thing you have ever done?"

"Um...is this going to be on TV?"

"Tiff, you don't mind if I call you Tiff right?"

"No."

"The whole month is going to be on camera. Like Real World, except it's more like Hanson World."

"Um...well then I'm not sure I want to say."

"Come on Tiffany." Zac crooned, as if talking to a child.

She laughed. "Okay, I went sky diving once, and um...I went skinny dipping once. And I guess those are the craziest things I've ever done."

Zac smiled, "Skinny dipping? That's pretty crazy."

"So Eriqa, what's the craziest thing you've ever done?" Taylor turned the group’s attention to the next victim.

"Well, once I covered myself in whipped cream and ran around screaming 'I'm the Stay Whipped Cream Woman!' Ya' know, like the 'Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man'? And another time, I went streaking, and another time, I decided to sing Happy Birthday, Marilyn Monroe style, to my cousin, and that's on video now, somewhere. But yeah, I've done lots of crazy things so it's hard to keep track."

"Were you wearing anything under all that whipped cream?"

"ZAC!"

"Sorry."

"Sounds like you're just a pretty crazy person."

Isaac smiled.

"Um...but in a good way, I hope."

"Oh yeah, of course."

"Chels?"

"Tayles?"

"Don't call me that. What's the craziest thing you've ever done."

"Once I stood outside in the pouring rain in a tank top, for four hours trying to get a glimpse of the car you were in."

"Why?" Zac stared wide eyed at her. She could have gotten phnemonia.

"Because I wanted to. Why does anyone do crazy things?"

"Um...okay." Zac's expression made it quite evident that he thought she was the craziest, in an insane sort of way, out of all the girls.

"Zac, don't look at me that way."

"Okay." Zac turned away his head.

"Smart ass."

"I was just trying to be polite." Zac smiled, Tiffany and Eriqa had to stifle their giggles. "Okay new question?" Everyone agreed. "Okay, what are your hopes for this trip?"

Tiffany stared at the floor. She didn't really know. "I hope to make new friends and maybe jam a bit with you guys." It was pretty general, and it was true, she had wanted to play with Hanson for a long time.

"I think, I'd really like to learn to play the drums, but I'm not a lefty so I don't think that would work."

"Tay could teach ya." Zac grinned.

Eriqa smiled. "I think, my biggest hope is to just experience something new and have fun which is always a good thing, and will hopefully happen anyway. I'd really like to write with you guys though. You have some amazing ideas and concepts in your songs and I'd like to get the chance to show you some of mine."

Hanson nodded their heads, Taylor mumbled something about that being "Cool, very cool." Like he usually does, before everyone turned their attention to Chelsea.

I can't say what my real hope for this trip is. That Taylor and I will end up together. What can I say? Oh, Hell, I'll just say the same sort of cheesy crap everyone else has been saying. "I'd like to be friends with everyone here, really. Except for Zac, I mean, he's just too weird for me to handle."

"I am insulted!" He mocked.

She laughed. "Sorry. But I'd like to become very close to all the people in this group. And hopefully, maybe, in the end, I can come out of this experience as a better person."

"That's right, lay on the sap." Zac joked, causing everyone else to laugh.

For only being a flight that was a few hours long, the trip to Tulsa seemed almost like an eternity. But maybe, that was just because everyone was too eager.
