Garicus is a retired adventurer and the innkeeper of the Hanged Man Inne. A short, stocky man, he is balding with a short, bristly white-speckled beard, bushy eyebrows and piercing blue eyes. His face is broad with a snub nose. His skin has been burned dark by the sun and wind of the Great Scarp. Though in his fifties, a lifetime of danger has made him strong and wiry and he works hard, which has kept him in shape. Though he is retired, the desolate location of the Hanged man means that it is no holiday camp. Garicus is cheerful enough, but not garrulous. He does not enquire as to his customer's business or pasts, and expects the same courtesy. He is however helpful with descriptions of the road and will answer even odd questions without apparent surprise. If approached in the right manner, he is often willing to tell tales of his past adventuring.
When serving, Garicus usually wears a short tunic with a heavy leather apron. The inn can be a roitserous place and he has certain "items" secreted about his person whenever he is working (see below). When he is not working he normally wears well cut but not expensive tunic and robes.
If there is a fight, or trouble in the inn, Garicus will attempt to retreat, calling out for his guards and friends. If forced to fight, he will activate his magic protections, and attack with the aim of putting his foes down as quickly as possible - to this end, he activates the strength bracer and aims for unarmoured spots on his foes, or simply strikes for the body. The lunge is his favoured attack.

Magical equipment (day to day) This stuff is provided by Talécanar, and once triggered, he would need to recast the spell. Garicus after all, knows no magic. If he is expecting trouble, he can also call on magical armour and other protections provided by Talécanar.
And in addition, he keeps his old adventuring weapon handy (normally hidden under the bar while he is working, near at hand otherwise) the one that earned him his nickname. This is a heavy broadsword, which has a flaming blade. It has two powers
