Dress Me Up 

Concepts to be taught: Children will know which clothing helps protect our bodies during certain seasons or weather types.  Children will distinguish weather in certain areas of the world. 

Objectives:  When given a choice, children will be able to match appropriate items of clothing with different kinds of weather.  Children will demonstrate proper clothing on the use of a doll.  Foster questions for discussions. Which items are best suitable for summer?  If you were taking a trip to Alaska what should I bring?  Also discuss what may happen if one does not dress appropriately for the weather.

Materials List: Barbie dolls or baby dolls for children to dress, different styles of clothing.

Evaluation: Children will know what to wear when it is raining or snowing.  Children will discuss to other peers appropriate clothing for certain weather or areas of the world. 

 

Life In My Skin

Concepts to be taught: Skin protection and the many uses of skin.  Children will gain basic knowledge of skin on their body.  Children will know various uses for their skin.

Objectives: Children will understand the basic concept of what skin is used for.  The instructor may discuss various parts if the (i.e. pigment, freckles, etc.). Ask questions to foster thinking?  How come we get goosebumps?  How does the skin stay dry?  What is waterproof?  Relate other various waterproofing animals into the lesson (i.e. ducks).

Evaluation:  At the end of this lesson children will know the use of his or her skin.  A child will be able to tell other pupils or adults about the skin on their body.  May be able to tie in or follow into animal coverings (i.e. dogs, horse, birds).
