Flames Tarantino Scripts Flames

Before I begin, I must let you know that all these film scripts are zipped, mainly because these scripts are loaded with profanity, so I cannot display them at my site. But don't let that bother you. Unzipped, they're just a bunch of uncomplicated text files, all ready for your reading pleasure. Also, a word of advice, if you plan to watch any of the films below, don't read the script yet! This will spoil all your surprises when you watch the film itself.

Yes, Mr. Quentin Tarantino. Okay actor, excellent director, but more importantly, supreme screenplay writer. Here I have almost all the scripts he has written, all except "Four Rooms" and the corrections/additions he made in the "Crimson Tide" script. But what I have here already makes for hours of delightful reading. You're wondering why he puts so many f-words in his scripts? Beats me, but sometimes I find them quite humourous, actually. Please, read on.

I think the first script he wrote was "True Romance". It is more of a crime caper than a romantic story, but some elements of romance still exist, don't you worry. Basically, in a sentence, it's about a young couple trying to sell a suitcaseful of drugs that didn't belong to them, while being relentlessly pursued by the actual owners of said drugs. Tarantino sold this script to director Tony Scott ("Top Gun") to finance his next project. Scott made a critically acclaimed film out of it all right, but till now, the movie is still quite unpopular in these shores. Darn it, eh? The film starred a host of first-rate actors, including Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken and Brad Pitt. Tarantino's next script was "Natural Born Killers". Yes, that one with Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis. He sold this script to director Oliver Stone, who made this one of the most controversial and offensive films of the decade. Even so, there were numerous changes made to the script, and Tarantino thought the film version was far too different from what he conceptualised at first. So he only asked for a story credit, even though he wrote the script. Now, see the original, un-Oliver Stoned script, and understand what Tarantino originally intended the film to be. Then came Tarantino's first ever directorial attempt, "Reservoir Dogs", the film where he first gained recognition and was named one of the most promising young directors of the 1990s. The story is about a diamond heist gone wrong, and how the remaining members of the robbery group tried to find out what went awry. It was no secret that some of the story ideas were inspired by the Hong Kong film "City On Fire", one of Tarantino's favourite films. When the script was completed, Tarantino wanted to make the film with some close friends of his, but in a twist of fate, the script landed on Harvey Kietel's hands. He loved the script so much that he volunteered for a part in it, and suddenly the film had a much bigger budget, and certainly more popular actors, Steve Buschemi, Tim Roth and Michael Madsen to name a few. Find out why. Also, get the two movie posters in .jpg form here and here.

We knew it had to come. Quentin Tarantino's crowning glory, "Pulp Fiction", four combined and inter-related stories about the seedy side of Los Angeles. Read this to understand why the script won more awards than you can shake a stick at. For more information of the film, please visit my Pulp Fiction Tribute Page instead. His next script, "From Dusk Till Dawn", was written based on a friend's story idea. He wrote it as a favour to his friend Robert Rodriguez, who directed the film. It's a fairly simple story really, about how a group of people have to fight for their lives in a bar filled with vampires 'from dusk till dawn'. Simple it may be, but read and see how Tarantino spiced the script up with his usual flair and silver-tongued dialogue. The film starred George Clooney, Tarantino himself, Harvey Kietel (he gets around, doesn't he?) and Juliette Lewis. It, too, achieved cult status. The rather small but still very cool-looking .gif movie poster is available here.

His latest script was the official follow-up to "Pulp Fiction". Based on the Elmore Leonard crime novel "Rum Punch", he switched the central character, and renamed it "Jackie Brown". Tarantino never intended it to top "Pulp Fiction", so he made the story more laid-back and slowed the pace. It's about Jackie Brown (duh) trying to outsmart a loan shark and the police into getting $500,000 for herself. The ending might be a bit draggy bacause it's basically the same story told three times over in three different people's points of view, but that was the only flaw. The film starred Pam Grier, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert De Niro, Bridget Fonda and Robert Forster. It received good reviews and got an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor (Robert Forster). Happy reading, you all. This I can almost guarantee.
