The latest addition to the bustling local production scene is The Intruder, a big-sceen thriller staring french actor Charlotte Gainsbourg (Merci la Vie), Nastassja Kinski (Cat people, Paris, Texas), Molly Parker (Kissed) and John Hannah (Four Weddings and a Funeral). The Canadian-U.K. co-production, which kicked off shooting on the west island Saturday, marks the feature-film directing debut of renowned British photographer David Bailey. ... "this is a film that deals mainly with two women, and if there's anyone that gets women to open-up and understands them, it's Bailey," said producer Pieter Kroonenburg. The script for The Intruder was penned by former Telescene executive Jamie Brown who left Montreal to set up shop in england several years back, and the flick is produced by Brown and Kroonenburg. the executive producer is Gary Howsam, Kroonenburg's partner is Montreal-based GFT Kinsborough Pictures. The film is a Hitchcock-flavoured thriller about a woman (Gainsbourg) haunted by the ghost of her husband's first wife, who was murdered. it is being shot by seasoned Quebec cinematographer Jean Lepine, whose credits include Robert Altman's The Player, and, at the very least with Bailey and Lepine abroad, this will be one stylish picture.
