NSL disputes tribunal to hear Newcastle protest

Newcastle United has lodged a protest against the result of last Friday's clash with Northern Spirit after the latter was fined for fielding a player not named on its teamsheet.

Spirit's Adam Kwasnik played in the scoreless draw, after his name was left off the list accidentally.

Spirit has been fined $2,000 for the blunder although Kwasnik was pulled from the field as soon as the club realised their mistake.

The NSL says the disputes tribunal will hear Newcastle's protest as soon as possible.

League regulations do not automatically provide for the loss of points when a club fields a player not listed on the teamsheet. First published on the ABC Sports Website
