News From the Regina Solidarity Committee

As part of the Week of Action at the University of Regina (Oct.13-16th), the Students' Union, in conjunction with CUPE 2419 and CUPE 1975 hosted a Union Solidarity Day. Over 450 union members, faculty and students showed up for lunch together and to hear speeches about the need for workers, staff and faculty to unite against the neo-liberal agenda on our campus and accross Canada.

I gave a run-down of the history of the UNITE strike, called for people to mobilize and join our daily pickets, write to UNITE and Eaton's and we passed around the hat for a financial appeal. We received a respectable sum of money, which we will forward to the women on the picket line.
