August 29th flew by in a dream world of shopping, giddy excitement and transportation plans. As was the 30th except for the fact that I had to step in to make my friends realize that going to a concert and
meeting people weren't a call for makeovers, hair dressers, manicures, pedicures, and stylists("But I'm gonna meet my future husband Nick! I HAVE to look good!" ~ Michelle). Now it was August 31. I had picked out
my outfit for the concert. It was what Leah was itching to borrow and
considered it "totally Drusilla-esque". It did, in fact, look like
something I swiped from Drusilla the Insane Vampire (Buffy TVS fame) 's
closet. It was a floor length royal purple velvet skirt, a crimson red
top with embroidered flowers and a black see-thru lace floor length
overcoat and black velvet four inch heels. My long, raven black hair
fell loosely down my back. Jewelry was a minimum, except for the usualrings
I always keep on my fingers and my new Pentagram. Happy birthday to me!!
I hadn't slept at all the night before thinking about today. That
morning, as usual, I valued the extra ten minutes provided by my snooze
alarm on my clock. My friends weren't that understanding. At around nine
in the morning, I was groggily waking up and getting ready when I heard
my doorbell ring.
"What the damn hell are they doing here now? We ain't supposed to be
at the Amphitheater until 12:30!" I mumbled to myself hoping that my mom
hadn't woke up. I went to open the door.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET SIXTEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I was bombarded with
noise, the neighbor's dog started barking, and my mom woke up with astart.
"Sam, what was that?! Is there a robber in the house?" My mom was frantic.
"Don't worry mom, that was my friends and the wake up call was for
me. Go back to bed." I called to my mom.
"Shut up! Damnit, I'm gonna have to confiscate whatever you guys are
presently high on. Must you wake up the whole friggin neighborhood to
announce your arrival?!" I said, really pissed at the moment.
"Sorry we're just giddy about today. We all decided to come early so
that we can give you your presents and then leave." Said Tavlin.
"Thanks guys, come on in. But remember to shut up!" I commanded.
"Yes ma'am!" Replied Lieutenant Dianna. "Move it soldiers." I said.
"Hey, you're wearing the Drusilla outfit, when can I borrow that?"
Asked Leah. "When you learn to return stuff." I said easily.
"Ha-ha!" Said Michelle pointing at Leah. She really was keen on her
Nelson impression.
"Quiet, Mich." Leah glared at Michelle. We sat at my living room and
they all handed me gifts in a rainbow of wrapping paper.
"Ooooo, presents! Which one first?" I asked rubbing my hands
together. Dianna was the first to stick her gift in my face.
"I wonder what this could be....." I said. All the presents were
either music, posters or Wiccan stuff (candles, incense, special
stones, crystals, amulets...) We talked and partied until it was time to
hit the road. Speaking of which..................
