Edda Kathleen van Heemstra Hepburn-Ruston, was born in Brussels, Belgium in 1929. Her parents divorced and she moved to Holland with her mother. Under the Nazi occupation of Holland, Audrey suffered from depression and malnutrition. After the war, Audrey went into modeling and was discovered by a European film producer. It was Roman Holiday that launched her success in the United States. Audrey was married and divorced twice and had two sons. Between 1988-1993 she served as goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund. Her last film role, in 1989, was playing 'Hap' in Steven Spielberg's Always.
I would have to say her best film work came from playing Holly Golightly in 1961's Breakfast at Tiffany's.
