Known as 'The Fifth Warner Brother,' Bette Davis began in Hollywood with a 6 month Universal Studio contract in 1930. The Studio rep who was to meet her on her arrival at the train station left without Bette, cause he said there was nobody who looked like a movie star. In 1932, Bette signed a 7 year contract with Warner Brothers. Bette married four times and had three children, one of whom was severely retarded. Her daughter B.D. wrote a scandalistic book in 1985 called 'My Mother's Keeper.' In 1977, the American Film Institute presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award. All About Eve would be my personal choice for her finest performance, but I really want it to be What Ever Happened To Baby Jane.
Bette Davis speaking of Joan Crawford: "I wouldn't piss on her if she was on fire." "She's slept with every male star at MGM, except Lassie."
