MUSIC

When one is involved in music, it is total involvement:
the head, the heart, the hands.

It is listening, speaking, doing.

It is: experiencing

...and what about background music?

  • ongoing background music is like: "Audible Wallpaper
  • 'silence' allows children to listen to the unique sounds that surround us
  • silence provides opportunity for 'inner thoughts'...so many people use 'music' to avoid thinking. It keeps the mind busy and allows one to hide from inner thoughts and feelings
  • heavy auditory stimulation guides us to 'tune out' which distracts from developing listening skills... and we wonder why the children aren't paying attention to us!
  • provide music as inspiration, to change the mood (i.e. calming effect) to listen to, and for activities
  • use music when one can attend to it --building music appreciation
Music Aptitude:
is a combination of BOTH "innate potential" and "environmental influences".
We have the opportunity to influence the environment !
