Biography Of

Jason Lives from left to right: Luke (vocals/bass), Joe (guitar/vocals) and Gav (drums).

Jason Lives are a not too bad band from out of Warragul in Victoria Australia. While its memebers may describe their musicial style as 'fully sick' or 'the future of music', it may best be described as punkish/metalish stuff. Lyrically, inspiration comes from such diverse things as horror movies, life experiences, current world events and food. On stage they can often be seen dancing like fools and not taking themselves too seriously, while still sounding mighty fine. Throughout the years they have recieved exposure in such publications as Kerrang and Buzz, airplay on such stations as JJJ and Gippsland FM, and have even made a special TV appearance. Jason Lives began life as The Voorhees in 1996, taking their name from the Friday the 13th movies, and over the next few years released 2 demos titled ‘Sprihc Nomed’ and 'The Doug Conspiracy', as well as performing many shows around the Gippsland area and building a strong following. In mid 1999 the band split up but eventually reformed in early 2003 as Jason Lives (as there was another band called Voorhees). During 2003 they recorded their first CD titled 'Life' which was released in 2004 around the time they began playing live again. In late 2004 original drummer Dan left the band and was replaced by Dave in early 2005. During this year they did more live shows as well as recording their new CD '13' which was released in 2006. More shows followed in 2007 and 2008 including a spot on the Punk Kills tour as well as contributions to various punk compilation CDs. Dave left in 2008 and at the end of the year was replaced Gav, an old mate of the bands. Throughout 2009 the band set up their own studio and began work on their new CD as well as playing the occasional show. As the band were doing everything themselves and learning how to use the recording gear and get the sounds they wanted, this turned out to be a very time consuming process and took longer that expected. In late 2011 they released from these sessions a new EP titled The Star Trek Conspiracy and did a bunch of shows before Ross announced his departure in January 2012. After a break his replacement was revealed as Joe Menzel who had played with Luke in Squeeze the Juice from 1999 till 2003. As 2012 nears its end you can expect to hear a lot more from Jason Lives in 2013.
